Gabriel Chona Rueda

ABOUT GABRIEL
Gabriel Chona Rueda is a young, emerging Colombian tenor, with twelve years of performance experience. He is currently in his first year of a masters degree program at the Moores School of Music where he continues to expand his repertoire and captivate audiences.
He has actively participated in several productions, most notably with his alma mater the University of British Columbia. With the UBC opera program he performed as Don Luigino in Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims, Henry Crawford in Jonathan Dove's Mansfield Park, Don Curzio in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Marco in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers, Fadinard in Nino Rota's Il Capello di Paglia di Firenze, and Ferrando in Mozarts's Cosi Fan Tutte.
He has been a participant at several reputable training programs such as Taos Opera Institute (2022), Nuova Vocal Arts (2023), and the Berlin Opera Academy (2023). At Nuova Vocal Arts he performed Bill in Jonathan Dove's Flight, and at Berlin Opera Academy he performed as Brighella/Tanzmeister in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos.
Gabriel Chona Rueda has also competed in the Schmidts Undergraduate Vocal Competition where he qualified as a national finalist in 2024.
